Symptoms of burnout

Recognizing and Phases of Exhaustion

Overexertion:
Characterized by a focus on high achievement, increased anxiety, and a sense of overwhelming responsibility. Physical symptoms like chronic fatigue and panic attacks may appear, often accompanied by denial of the underlying problem.
Overload:
At this stage, individuals feel trapped, experience severe physical symptoms, and begin to withdraw socially. They may also become cynical, experience guilt or anger, and suffer from sleep disturbances.

Adrenal Fatigue:
The most intense phase, marked by extreme physical and psychological symptoms, including severe exhaustion, muscle pain, and an inability to concentrate. This stage can have long-lasting effects, including possible lifelong consequences.

To prevent these stages of exhaustion, schools should take proactive measures such as reducing stress loads, clearly defining roles, providing adequate resources, and fostering open communication between teachers and administration.
